As a fertility coach I often talk to my clients about emotional self-care. And if I talk the talk I also have to walk the walk. So I practice what I preach. I use a whole range of techniques and practices to ensure I look after my own emotional wellbeing and spending time outside every day is one of my favourite ways to press the reset button.

There is something very centering about feeling the ground under my feet. Walking from the door each day for my permitted hour of outdoor exercise has become very precious in the past few weeks. Some days with one of the family some days without them, but always with my dog, this is precious time.

The Latin phrase solvitur ambulando means to solve by walking. This is something that really speaks to me. Taking a walk and becoming completely absorbed in observing the world around me takes me out of “doing” and into “being”. And when I am fully present observing each moment as it arrives, this creates space in my mind and a pause in the mental chatter. How do you take time out for your emotional wellbeing?
